Our mission
“To preserve, expand, promote and introduce the art of calligraphy, and to build stronger communication and cooperation among artists around the world.”

A global community
Together in a shared written heritage.
The World Association of Calligraphers is a US-based nonprofit organization, open to everyone who practices, teaches, studies, collects or simply loves the art of beautiful writing.
Participation is not limited by country, language, cultural background, artistic tradition, style or age. The association is independent, non-political, non-religious and non-partisan.
Artwork registration
Every work, carefully documented.
Register an artwork with the association: document it, request an artistic review and receive a unique artwork ID — and, where the association issues one, a certificate that anyone can verify.
Register
Submit the artwork's information and images. Submissions are private to you and the association.
Review
The association reviews the registration, may ask for more information, and carries out an artistic review where one is requested and applicable.
Artwork ID and certificate
A registered artwork receives a unique artwork ID. A certificate is issued only where the association explicitly decides to issue one.
Digital archive
A living archive for future generations.
A curated public collection of documented artworks, growing into a resource for study, teaching and discovery.

Exhibitions
Bringing calligraphy to the world.
Physical and virtual exhibitions presenting calligraphy from many countries and traditions.

Children, Youth & Schools
Inspiring the next generation.
Digital technology has reduced the place of handwriting in many schools. The association works with schools and teachers to bring beautiful writing back into the lives of children and young people.
