Directory
Artists
Calligraphers, masters and contemporary artists from many countries and writing traditions.
No artist profiles have been published yet.
Artists who join the association will be presented here.
With its artist directory, the World Association of Calligraphers gives calligraphers, calligraphic painters and practitioners of the written arts from around the world a place to be introduced. Its purpose is to let artists present their record, abilities and work to the artistic community, galleries, universities, collectors, researchers and enthusiasts everywhere.
An artist's own page
Where a member artist wishes it, and once their information is confirmed, a dedicated profile page is created for them. It can include:
- Name and artistic name
- Country and city of activity
- A portrait of the artist
- A short biography and introduction
- Educational and artistic background
- Exhibitions and festivals taken part in
- Awards and honors
- Discipline and artistic style
- Sample images of work
- Books, articles and research activity
- Professional contact details, or a link to a website or social profile
Browsing and categorization
Artists in the directory can be browsed and searched by criteria such as:
- Country and city
- Script type and artistic style
- Traditional calligraphy
- Calligraphic painting and contemporary art
- Letter design and the written arts
- Age group
- Artistic level and experience
- Masters, professional artists, learners, and children and teenagers
This categorization helps visitors find the artist they are looking for more easily, and discover their work and area of activity.
The association introduces and supports every artist with an interest in writing — from children who have just begun learning to write and practice calligraphy, to learners, amateur artists, professional artists, masters and internationally distinguished artists. Even so, artists are presented in the group suited to their level, so that children and beginning learners are not placed alongside professional masters, and each group is presented in a way that fits it. This grouping is not a judgment of anyone's worth as a person; it exists for order, fairness and a more accurate presentation of artistic ability.
Presenting work and records
Artists can add selected work, with full descriptions, to their profile page. Details such as the work's title, date of creation, technique, dimensions and subject can be shown alongside its image.
Where the artist requests it, work registered with the association can be presented with its registration number and related certificate. This helps document the work's record and adds to the artist's professional profile.
Professional opportunities
The artist directory can help build connections between artists and organizations such as:
- Galleries and museums
- Universities and research centers
- Collectors and buyers of art
- Exhibition organizers
- Cultural and educational institutions
- Media outlets and art publications
- Artists and masters from other countries
The association may feature selected artists and their work in its exhibitions, festivals, competitions, interviews and publications.
Rights and privacy
All artist information, images and work are published while respecting the artist's intellectual property rights. Publishing images of a work, using it in advertising, reposting it or using it commercially without the artist's permission is not allowed.
An artist can choose which information is public and which is shared only with the association or with people it has approved.
International and multilingual
Given the association's international reach, an artist's profile can be presented in the artist's own language and in English, with further languages planned for the future. This lets artists from different countries connect with an international audience.
Our goal
The purpose of this directory is that no deserving artist should be left out of the artistic community for reasons of geography, finances, or a lack of means to promote their work. The association works to give every artist an opportunity to introduce their work, ideas and artistic path to the world.
The World Association of Calligraphers: a bridge between artists, cultures and nations.
