Artwork registration
Artists, owners and their representatives can register an artwork with the association: document it, request an artistic review and receive a unique artwork ID that can be verified publicly.
Two separate things
Registration records a work. Artistic review judges it.
Artwork registration
Confirms that the work's details — artist, title, date and images — were recorded in the association's register, and gives it a unique artwork ID. It does not prove authenticity, authorship, ownership or provenance, and it is not an assessment of quality.
Artistic review
An optional, separate assessment by the association's Artistic Evaluation Council, based on artistic and technical criteria, creativity, originality and level of execution. Works are assessed in separate groups and levels, so children and beginners are not judged alongside professional masters. The council does not set prices.
How registration works
Submission
You submit the artwork's details and images through your account.
Registration received
The association confirms receipt. Your submission stays private.
Administrative review
The association checks the information and may ask for a revision or more details.
Artistic review
Where requested and applicable, reviewers appointed by the association consider the work.
Decision
The artwork is registered or declined. A registered artwork receives its public artwork ID.
Certificate
Where the association decides to issue one, a certificate with its own number and QR verification follows.
What registration is not
Registration records the information submitted to the association. By itself it is not:
- proof of authenticity, authorship, ownership or provenance;
- an appraisal or statement of value;
- a guarantee of an artistic review or of a certificate;
- publication of the artwork or inclusion in the Digital Archive;
- a sales listing.
Artistic review, certificate issuance and publication in the Digital Archive are separate decisions of the association.
Why register a work
- Creates a documented record of the artist's name, the date of creation and the work's details.
- Gives you a timestamped record of your submission that you can point to for your own recordkeeping.
- Keeps the work's information in the association's digital records.
- Signals that reproducing, publishing or selling the work requires the artist's permission.
- Supports a culture of respect for intellectual property and copyright among artists, galleries and buyers.
- Makes it easier to put the work forward for exhibitions, competitions and international programs.
- Gives artists a professional record they can share with galleries, collectors and buyers.
- Lets anyone look up the work's basic registration details using its registration number.
- Gives the artist a documented reference point if questions about copies or unauthorized use come up later.
Artwork ID and certificate
Every registered artwork receives a unique artwork ID, for example WAC-A-2026-000123, and a private verification code. Where the association issues a certificate, it carries its own number and a QR code linking to a public verification page.
The verification page confirms only the essentials — the ID, title, artist, dates and status. It never shows contact details, review comments, private images or payments.
Where the association issues a certificate, it confirms that the work's details, as submitted, were recorded in the association's system on a given date. It is not a finding of authenticity, authorship, ownership or provenance.
Reproducing, publishing, selling, using in advertising or altering a registered work requires the artist's permission and must respect their legal rights.
A registration or certificate from the association is not a substitute for official copyright registration with a country's own authorities. Artists who need that protection should register their work with the relevant intellectual-property office as well.
